More than Everest, the life of T. Howard Somervell

Following the 50th anniversary of his death, a new film celebrates the life of T. Howard Somervell (1890-1975). Best known for his part in the 1922 and 1924 expeditions to Mount Everest, Somervell is revealed as a man of great achievements not only as a climber, but also in the fields of painting, musical composition, writing and above all as a missionary surgeon in south India. Simon Pierse travels to Scotland, the Lake District, Tibet, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu to interview some of the people who knew Howard Somervell and reveals some little known aspects of the life of this great polymath.
